To be eligible, applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary-type passport, and in good health;
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, those who immigrated to other countries from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan and applying to study in Shanghai University as international students, should meet the following additional requirements: the applicants must hold valid passport or other relevant international recognized documents for at least 4 years; meanwhile, in the latest 4 years (by each April 30th of the year of University registration), the applicants must have lived overseas for 2 years (Living overseas for 9 months can be converted to 1 year, which is subject to the exit-entry stamp on visa.).
Language Proficiency Certificate
If you are applying for Chinese-taught programs, HSK certificates within two years are required (HSK refers to Chinese Proficiency Test. )
HSK 4 above 180Art;
HSK 4 above 195 for Science or Engineering;
HSK 4 above 210 for Economics or Management;
HSK 5 above 180 for Humanities.
HSK Exemptions
The following types of applicants are exempt from taking the HSK:
Native speaker of Chinese;
The previous degree is fully taught in Chinese.
Note: All applicants who are going to apply for Chinese taught programs in 2021 will be required to have HSK 5 at least 180.Those who fail to meet the requirement should participate in the International Foundation Program of Shanghai University.
Academic Requirement
Be a Master's degree holder;
Graduates who did not receive their degree certificates at the time of application should provide pre-graduation certificates issued by their schools or colleges to prove their ability to graduate smoothly and obtain their degree certificates by July 2020.
Accepted by a prospective professor at Shanghai University
The academic proficiency will be evaluated by the prospective professor.
Please note that it is not required to choose supervisor for the programs of School of Economics. The School will arrange soon after they register at Shanghai University.

Program Description
Program Introduction:
The discipline has 20 professors, 18 part-time professors and 18 associate professors, including 23 doctoral supervisors. The academic leaders are academician Liu Renhuai, Professor You Jianxin and Professor Chen Yizeng, and the academic leader of second-grade discipline of intellectual property management is Professor Tao Xinliang. With rational structure and strong teachers, the academic team of Management Science and Engineering has undertaken many national and provincial research projects. There are more than 50 doctoral students and more than 450 postgraduates in reading. This discipline focused on both theoretical research and practical application. Some teachers keep close ties and conduct joint researches with many well-known domestic and foreign universities and research institutions in long term to cooperatively instruct doctoral students. Welcome students who are interested in engaging in the above fields of research to apply for related specialties.

*1. Photocopy of valid passport
A clear copy of your valid passport with your name, photo, birth date, place of birth, date of issue, date of expiry;
Visa page is required for applicants who are not in their home country.*2. Academic Transcripts of Master degree
Academic Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Both original and official English translated version are required.
*3. Statement of Financial Support
Certificate of your family financial situation background. You need to go to the bank to issue a deposit of your family financial situation.

Written in English or Chinese (according to the teaching language of the program), more than 800 words, including research achievements so far (e.g. title and abstracts of graduation thesis or published paper), reasons of choosing SHU, study and research plan, future career plan, etc.
5. Academic Research Documents
Publication of academic papers and patent certificate, Note: Applicants who apply for a Ph.D. in the School of Management must have a background in management science or science and engineering and have published at least one academic paper in SCI or SSCI journals at the time of application.

A video including self-introduction and study plan in China shot by the applicants. (within 50M, avi, mov, mp4 all accepted) The language of the video is up to the medium of instruction in the selected major(English or Chinese).
*8. Passport photo
Recent bareheaded (within six months), full-face, blue-color background, one-inch certificate photo (390*570), instead of landscape photos or photos of daily life; in JPG format, less than 100K.
*9. Certificate of Master degree
Certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Both original and official English translated version are required.

*11. Two Letters of recommendation
Written in English or Chinese by two different professors or associate professors from previous academic institutions, or work supervisors, etc. The referee’s signature and contact information are necessary.
*12. Supervisor Acceptance Letter
Applicants must choose supervisor online and get accepted or the acceptance letter with signature and then upload online. Any fake or forgery signature will lead to disqualification of scholarship and enrolment. Please note that it is not required to choose supervisor for School of Economics.
