1. Program Introduction

Editor Notes: This program includes three parts, which are Chinese culture and natural science courses, other 6 courses, and internship.

  • The basic courses in 5-level are prone to strengthening the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing. 
  • As students' Chinese levels are different, translation will be offered accordingly. 
  • There are some relevant culture courses like calligraphy, Chinese painting, Taiji Boxing (the Chinese shadow boxing), Chinese gardens, etc. This program includes 6 levels and every level is for one semester.
  • Students who pass final exam will study the high grade of Chinese Course in the next semester.

2.1 Level A

1)Teaching Objectives

Suits  the  beginners  of  Chinese  language,  which  focuses  on training  the  students  to  use  the  simple  Chinese  in  daily communication.  When  finishing  this  course,  students  are required  to master  50  basic Chinese  grammatical  points, 900 words, basic simple sentence patters and some basic conversation modes  and  language  functions,  having  the  ability  of  making simple conversation on the most common topics in daily life.

2.2 Level B

1)Teaching Objectives

Suits the students who have mastered more than 800 Chinese vocabularies. After about four months study, the students basically shall be able to understand familiar and short sentences in daily social life, and can introduce themselves or other people simply, can communicate with others on familiar topics. the course especially pays attention to the training of the students’ knowledge and ability of HSK.

1)Teaching Objectives

Aims to develop the students' ability of oral communication, and students’ reading and writing ability with the proficient use of new words, to comprehensively improve the communicative competence of listening, speaking, reading and writing for Intermediate level learners. The students are required to master about 800 multiplex words and about 120 ways of expression.

2.4 Level D

1)Teaching Objectives

Aims to develop students' ability in Chinese through relatively separate and mutually complementary listening and speaking exercises, and acquire 200 Chinese idioms and traditional sayings. Students are also encouraged to contribute with texts and problems from their ongoing course or project work.

2.5 Level E

1)Teaching Objectives

Emphasis on outlining the overall features of the Chinese culture and describing dynamically its heritage. The students are required to take an active part in analysis, comparison, exchange and discussion in class to enrich their relevant knowledge.
The materials are mainly selected from Chinese and foreign movies and programs on TV according to students’ interests and language proficiency.

2.6 Class Size

The minimum size of each class is 15 and the average is about 20. 

2.7 Completion certificate
